Plunge into the dazzling art world of Amsterdam, and join our certified guides on a journey through two of the city’s most important museums! Get ready for a private tour, customized to fit your needs, where you’ll have plenty of time to ask questions.
You’ll start at the Rijksmuseum, often referred to as Holland’s answer to the Louvre, for a comprehensive introduction to Dutch history and art via the impressive collection of 8,000 pieces. Our guides will take you through the museum’s highlights, including Vermeer’s “The Milkmaid” and Rembrandt’s “The Jewish Bride”, as well as lesser-known treasures, like the collection of 17th century dollhouses and the sweeping 19th century library.
After a lunch break, you’ll move on to the Van Gogh Museum, which holds the world’s largest collection of the artist’s work. Here, you’ll learn the stories behind Van Gogh’s iconic sunflowers, self-portraits and some of his most famous paintings, including “Wheatfield with Crows” and “Yellow House”. You’ll discuss the turbulent life events that led him from Holland to France (like that whole ear thing) and influenced the different phases of his work.
Highlights Include: (if artwork is not on loan or being restored etc.)

Excellent day seeing wonderful sites in Buenos Aires. John is a very informative guide and pleasant to spend time with.
Fabulous
The Guided Tour of the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum was exceptional. Our guide Tia was very knowledgeable and gave us a deep understanding of the history, context and meaning of all the paintings we viewed. We can highly recommend this tour.
Excellent experience with Victoria, our guide. Made visit interesting as well as educational.
As is true of many wonderful museums, there is so much to see it is difficult to focus. Our guide for our family of 5 adults was Victoria. She was both a masterful story teller about the lives of Van Gogh and Rembrandt and an expert in defining their styles of painting and comparing them to other painters of their time. We did not see EVERY painting but rather a series that depicted the growth and the challenges these artists had in their creative, often challenging lives. You would want this experience for this tour! This was a 4-5 hour tour and we were intrigued the entire time.
